Our Team

Dan Mahlum

Dan Mahlum has been with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines for nine years and currently serves as director of Mortgage Programs. In this role, Dan is responsible for developing residential mortgage programs and strategy designed to meet the needs of the member institutions within the FHLB Des Moines’ cooperative structure.

During his more than 35 years in mortgage banking, Dan has held servicing and secondary marketing leadership roles for organizations ranging from a community bank to top-10 mortgage banking entities. Prior to joining FHLB Des Moines, he served as vice president for secondary marketing and mortgage division finance director at Nationwide Bank and held senior level servicing positions with CitiMortgage and Principal Residential Mortgage, Inc.

In addition to his current role, Dan serves as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Mortgage Partnership Finance® (MPF) Program.  The MPF Program enables the Federal Home Loan Banks to serve as a residential mortgage secondary market investor for member institutions.

Brad Meader

Brad Meader has more than 30 years of experience in the banking and mortgage industries, joining FHLB Des Moines in October 2005 and serving currently as Mortgage Relationship Manager supporting PFIs and prospective PFIs.

In his previous FHLB Des Moines role as Manager – Mortgage Product Group, his primary areas of responsibility included oversight of the MPF application and approval, PFI training, the MPF quality control functions, liaison to the MPF Provider and other MPF Banks, and general daily operations of the mortgage programs. Prior to his employment with FHLB Des Moines he was a Vice President and mortgage lender at two FHLB Des Moines member community financial institutions with responsibility for multiple components of the mortgage business line including processing, underwriting, origination, servicing, and secondary market correspondent relationships.

Brad is a graduate of the School of Mortgage Banking and holds the Accredited Mortgage Professional (AMP) designation from the Mortgage Bankers Association. He has also completed the Graduate School of Banking, Madison, Wisconsin and earned the Certificate of Executive Leadership from the Wisconsin School of Business.

Laura Turrittin

Laura Turrittin supports members in northern Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota in her role as Mortgage Relationship Manager. Laura has more than 25 years of experience in the mortgage industry. Throughout her career, she has held various sales and operational leadership positions in independent mortgage banking organizations and regional banks. She feels fortunate to champion the mission of FHLB Des Moines and advocate for our members. 

Laura lives in Minnesota, where she enjoys spending time with her three children, running, exploring the great outdoors, pickling jalapenos, and watching Ted Lasso. She volunteers with various community organizations including: SimpsonHousing Shelter, Loaves and Fishes, EveryMeal, and PRISM. She is a graduate of St. Olaf College.

Katie Sudmann

Katie is the Manager of the Member Relationships team at FHLB Des Moines. Her responsibilities include providing guidance on the MPF Program, including the Bank’s events and product options, while leading a team of mortgage professionals. Katie has more than 14 years of experience in the mortgage industry. She is also a member of the MPF Product Management & Development (PMD) and Technology & Implementation (OTI) sub-committees. When she is not at work, Katie stays busy chasing around her four children ages eight and under.

Donna Iddins

Donna has worked in various aspects of the mortgage industry for 46 years and has been with the FHLB Des Moines’ MPF program for 24 years. Donna is currently responsibility for training and support for new and existing PFIs in how to do business with MPF. In previous positions, she managed processors, closers, secondary market, and post-closing/shipping departments. She attended Northern Virginia Community College in Annandale, VA.

Valerie Harris

Valerie Harris joined FHLB Des Moines in March of 2010 and has a career that spans over 27 years in the mortgage industry.  She currently serves in the Mortgage Product Group as a Mortgage Relationship Specialist supporting current and prospective PFIs through all stages of their tenure, selling mortgage loans to the Bank. Prior mortgage experience includes closer, processor, underwriter, inside origination and management in Arizona, Colorado, and Iowa. Working in the mortgage industry has allowed her to assist in “making dreams come true, for so many, seeking the privilege of home ownership”.

Valerie graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She and her husband Joel, enjoy spending most of their free time with their 4 children, 4 grandchildren and extended family.

Teresa Ennen

Joining the Bank in 2015, Teresa specializes in the implementation and rollout of mortgage products, provides PFIs with daily support and assists with department operations. As a Lead Mortgage Operations & Compliance Analyst in the Mortgage Product Group, Teresa recognizes that a strong partnership between the Bank and the PFI ensures goals are met and achievements follow. Teresa holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Grandview College. With more than 10 years in the mortgage industry, she enjoys providing best-in-class service through years of personal knowledge.

Fostering relationships is a theme in Teresa’s personal life too. From volunteering and dedicating time in the community to sponsoring a child in need, she understands that at the heart of what she does, the relationship matters most.

Rory Cline

Rory Cline is the Operations Manager at Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. He has more than 15 years of experience in mortgage banking. He has expertise in mortgage default including loss mitigation and mortgage servicing compliance. Prior to joining the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Rory served as Manager of Default Operations and as a Compliance Consultant at Nationwide Bank. Rory graduated from the University of Iowa with a BBA in Finance in 2004 and from Duke University with an MA in 2008.

Connie Kent

Connie Kent has been a Senior Mortgage Analyst at FHLB Des Moines since 2013. She has more than 30 years of experience in banking with a primary emphasis in mortgages. Her expertise extends from originating, processing, underwriting, and working with different secondary market correspondents. Prior to joining FHLB Des Moines Connie was employed with a PFI member, bringing that knowledge with her. Connie’s focus is on quality control, default, and servicing.

Ryan Peterson

Ryan Peterson is a Lead Mortgage and Compliance Analyst at Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines and has been with the Bank since March 2021 and has more than 19 years of experience in mortgage banking. Ryan started his mortgage career in sales as an individual producer and has since held leadership roles in sales, default, customer service and quality assurance/control.  Ryan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale.

Sharon Woodard

Sharon Woodard is a Senior Mortgage Associate with more than 30 years of experience in mortgage banking. Sharon provides daily support to Des Moines members with MPF authorities, fees, and FAQs. She also assists with MPG department operations. Prior to joining FHLB Des Moines in July 2018, she started her career at Nationwide in customer service and held various positions from processing to closing as well as a Senior Business Analyst, specializing in operational and system support.

Ademija Salic

Ademija Salic is a Senior Mortgage Analyst at Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines with over 15 years of mortgage experience. She started her career in cash management specializing in foreclosure, bankruptcy, default payments and government assistance programs. Prior to joining FHLB Des Moines, Ademija worked on the investor reporting team at Wells Fargo analyzing remittance for FNMA preforming complex investor loan activities related to loan reporting and remittance, reconciliation, and loan maintenance.
