Every Participating Financial Institution has a dedicated relationship manager to provide education and guidance on delivering loans. Brad brings more than 25 years of experience in the mortgage and finance industry as a vice president, mortgage relationship manager. Spending 12 years in community financial institution lending positions and 14 years in operational and member support roles with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.
The theme of growing vitality extends to his personal life, too. Brad’s primary focus is on guiding his three children in their academic, fine art and athletic activities—he even coached their youth basketball and football leagues. Brad also volunteers with his high school football team as statistician. Even with all the miles he travels to meet with members, Brad still enjoys road trips with his family.

Former head coach of the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots, Phil Bengtson, was from Roseau, Minnesota and there is an outstanding chimes towers on the campus of South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota," shares Brad. "At the other end of the spectrum are the Twin Cities, which represents the 13th largest economy in the U.S. and is home to more than 3.4 million residents. Our small towns and larger cities are rich with history. I am proud to partner with those communities; from rural to urban and everything in between."
Connect with VP/Mortgage Product Manager, Ed Barker to discuss the complete MPF product suite. Ed ’s passion for growing his partner’s profitability and productivity drives his decisions every day. He brings more than 30 years of industry experience in strategic vision and leadership to the Bank as a vice president and mortgage relationship manager.
A native of the Chicago area, Ed completed studies at the University of California, Indiana University and Florida State University. He began his career as a compliance examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Afterwards, he moved on to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). His desire to embody a “proactive consultant for efficiency” led him to spend more than 15 years with Fannie Mae, where he excelled as a subject matter expert on profitability and enhanced customer relationships.
Vision and focus is a theme outside of work, too. From hiking more than 50 National Forests to scaling the Grand Canyon to biking a volcano in Hawaii, Ed’s zest for adventure is strong. He also travels the U.S. as a volunteer builder and promoter for safe playgrounds. This decades-long volunteer effort garnered him a George H.W. Bush Points of Light Award.

As the mortgage relationship manager for Iowa, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming, Todd understands that team-based practices are important—especially while traversing the 469,000 square miles of his territory. Todd continually looks for ways to develop and sustain supportive professional relationships in the unique and complex world of mortgage products. He knows that listening to, and acting on, customer feedback goes a long way.
Originally from Humboldt, Iowa, Todd graduated from the University of Iowa and then began his career in secondary market sales in 1994. Todd transitioned to sales management in 1998 and joined FHLB Des Moines two years ago.
The group approach Todd follows at the Bank extends to his personal life, too. From cheering for his favorite team—the University of Iowa Hawkeyes—to snow skiing with friends to spending time with his young adult daughters, Todd knows connections are the foundation to success.
